Document Categories and Linked Documents

  • November 10, 2023

This new feature was a result of numerous client requests to be able to have the concept of grouped documents based on the type or category of the document. A clear business use case on this type of functionality are the proof of address and proof or identification. There are various documents that could satisfy the requirement of a proof of identification, namely, copy of an ID card or a passport or a driving license. In this case, some clients would satisfy the fact that they have achieved the proof of identification if one of these documents has been provided. Similarly, the proof of address can be satisfied if one of the linked documents is provided.

The use case however has also been expanded for other requirements which are more complex. We have seen use cases on legal entities whereby a number of documents satisfy a particular requirement. The proof of ownership is satisfied if at least three or more of the required linked documents have been uploaded.

This new feature addresses all of the above use cases and more, all in a dynamic manner and configurable through the configuration studio of KYCP.

Within the DOCUMENT TYPES module, the system now allows you to set the following for each type of DOCUMENT.

– Category – allowing you to set if this document relates to Proof of ID or Proof of Address.
– Linked documents – allowing you to choose which documents are to be set as a sub category to this specific document type.
– Once linked with entities the system also allows you to define the minimum set of linked documents needed for the document type to be satisfied.

Once all of the above is set, the solution will present the user with the respective view in the checklist clearly showing the sub categories for each document type (as per image below).

The fact that one of the linked documents was uploaded, satisfied the overall requirement of the document type (in this case due to the fact that the setting was set to at least one document).
